About the project

Promotion of Identity, European Culture and Tradition

ref. no. 2018-1-IT02-KA229-047925

2018-2021

This project aims to make the students aware of the importance of the local cultural heritage in an European perspective of development of job opportunities with tourism. They could know similarities and differences between different kinds of evaluating local cultural heritage and, at the same time, improve their language and ICT skills.

The most important activities are linked to the search for local folk traditions, fairy tales, typical dishes, religious festivals linked to the most important moments of the year (Christmas, Easter, Patron Saint) to make them known both to local students and to the pupils of other schools. Students will also know the history and the main local monuments.

The comparison with other European realities would allow children to understand the great value of their cultural heritage, identifying similarities and differences with other European countries with which our territory has many elements in common despite local differences.

RESULTS

Our project’s goal, clearly stated in the Erasmus+project, was to make the students aware of the importance of the local cultural heritage in a European perspective of development of job opportunities in tourism. Each month the students were involved in various activities. They did research on the different aspects of popular traditions, interviewed local people (especially the elderly), participated in some local festivals to take photos and to make videos to be published on the project site, wrote recipe texts/ recorded themselves while doing them, learned about the history of their own territory, shared photos of the most representative monuments, wrote the dissemination of the activities, participated in the dissemination activities, helped the teachers to prepare the activities for the mobilities, guided their colleagues during the mobilities, made the Erasmus+ corner of the project in the school hall etc. Finally, they were involved in the creation of videos and brochures on the environmental heritage of each country participating in the project. During the project, they worked as a team guided by the teachers to achieve the goals of the project. They did some activities in pairs or individually, depending on the topic. During the mobilities they worked in mixed teams which consisted of Italian, Greek and Romanian students and used English as a language of communication. Thus, they managed to develop their communication skills in English. All activities also developed their abilities in using web 2.0 tools. They created videos and presentations by using different web 2.0 tools on different subjects, such as local traditions and representative events, local religious feasts, local traditional food, local traditional songs, local traditional dances, local history, handmade souvenirs etc. For Europe Day 2021 they created a video with testimonials about the project.
